Negotiations

When ever a player in this history utters the word "negotiations" keep in mind that the only thing the North Vietnamese were willing to negotiate prior to 1973 was the U.S. dismantling of the South Vietnamese Government and the unilateral withdrawal of all U.S. forces. It was naive of all the players who looked at negotiations as a step towards peace to see it as anything other an American surrender to the Communist terms -- and that includes Johnson, McNamara, Clark Clifford, all the "peace candidates" and certainly all the protesters.

This is a "stump" essay which will be revisited when time permits.
