JONATHAN AND JEANNIE LAVINE, The Crimson Lion Fund. Progressive Democrats.

Jonathan Lavine, a high honors graduate of both Columbia College and Harvard Business School, is Co-Managing Partner of Bain Capital with $75 billion in assets and is a principal in Sankaty Advisors. As graduates of Harvard, the Lavines founded the Crimson Lions Foundation with income of $16.7 million actively supporting Harvard.

Harvard’s reputation of academic excellence to the contrary, The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, FIRE, rates Harvard University as “Red”… substantially restricts freedom of speech.

Jonathan serves on the boards of organizations of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Be The Change Inc., (national service, economic mobility and veterans’ empowerment), Opportunity Nation (expanding access to the American Dream), and Service Nation (universal national service, e.g. AmeriCorp). John is a Member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council and Vice-Chairman of the Trustees of Columbia University. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, FIRE, rates Columbia University as “Yellow…unambiguously restricts speech on the basis of content and viewpoint, but its scope is very limited.”

Like the Lavines George Soros has also contributed over $5 million to Columbia to selected, ideologically extreme, projects. Jonathan and Jeannie Lavine gave $500,000 to $999,999 to George Soros supported Center for American Progress committed to "developing a long-term vision of a progressive America" and "providing a forum to generate new progressive ideas and policy proposals.” One of the Centers’ projects is Campus Progress seeking to "strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses, counter the growing influence of right-wing groups…" The Lavine’s gave between $1-5 million to the Clinton Foundation and between $750,000 to $1 million to the Obama Foundation.

Open Secrets reveals the Lavine’s have made over 250 contributions to Democrats including Pelosi, Kerry, Clinton, Obama, Biden, and Democrat candidates for the U.S. Senate.
