Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.

Here are some basics.

To italicize some text, enclose it in two single quotes or click on the capital "I" in the editor after highlighting the text you want italicized.

To bold some text, enclose it in three single quotes or click on the capital "B" in the editor after highlighting the text.

To bold and italicize some text, enclose it in four single quotes or click on both the "I" and the "B" in the editor.

To add color to text, see Template:Text color templates see also for the colors that are available. The basic format is {{the color you want|the text you want to highlight}}, so, for example, if you want to make some text red, you do this: {{red|My text here}} which results in this: My text here.

To highlight some text, highlight the text with your mouse, then click on the highlight icon https://wiki.vvfh.org/images/highlight.png in the Advanced editing bar above. Once you've done that, you can change the color easily by editing the document and changing the color in the code, which appears like this: <span style="background-color: yellow">Text goes here.</span> See the Highlighting text document, linked in the sidebar, for details on what color names are available to you.

To create a link, enclose the url and its description in square brackets like this [ followed by the url, a space, the text you want the link to display, and ]. Or, click on the two chain links in the editor and fill in the boxes. (If you highlight the text first, it will autofill the text box.)

To cite a source (commonly called foot or end noting), click on Cite in the editor and fill in all the fields.

Getting started
